OpenDog Privacy Policy
This policy explains what OpenDog receives, where it comes from, why it is used, when service providers may receive it, and how grooming businesses, staff, and customers can ask questions or exercise applicable rights.
Effective date: August 18, 2026
- Grooming businesses control the customer and dog records they enter for their work.
- OpenDog uses information to provide, secure, support, and improve the service—not to make unrelated public claims.
- Connected providers receive only the information needed for the configured task and operate under their own terms.
- Do not place passwords, complete card details, or unnecessary sensitive information in ordinary OpenDog records.
Scope and roles
OpenDog provides business-operations software for mobile and pet-grooming businesses. A grooming business chooses the records it enters, decides how those records support its services, manages its staff access, and controls its customer relationship. OpenDog processes that business information to provide the software and follows appropriate account-holder instructions, contractual duties, and legal requirements. OpenDog also handles account, website, and support information for its own service operations.
Information we collect
The information depends on the people, features, public pages, and connected providers involved.
- Business and account information, including owner, business, contact, plan, billing-contact, setup, and subscription details.
- Staff and user information, including identity, role, login, session, device, linked sign-in, and security context.
- Business-entered customer and dog records, including contact details, appointments, requested services, service areas, addresses, route context, care and handling notes, permitted photos, invoices, and visit history.
- Public request, customer-portal, contact, support, assisted-setup, and demonstration information and related correspondence.
- Website, domain, media, policy, service-menu, request-form, and public-site content chosen by the business.
- Invoice, payment, deposit, refund, payout, or subscription status and provider references when a configured payment path is used. Complete card numbers and security codes do not belong in ordinary OpenDog records.
- Technical information such as network and device context, request logs, browser details, security events, cookie identifiers, campaign attribution, and product-use events where those tools are active.
Where information comes from
OpenDog receives information directly from business owners and authorized staff; from customers using a business’s request page or portal; from devices and browsers using the service; from files the business chooses to import; and from configured providers such as sign-in, hosting, email, maps, payments, domains, logging, analytics, and support services. A connected provider may also send status or reference information needed to complete its workflow.
How we use information
OpenDog uses information to create and manage accounts; authenticate users and protect sessions; configure businesses, roles, services, and public pages; receive and review customer requests; organize clients, dogs, schedules, routes, appointments, invoices, payment status, reports, and rebooking; deliver configured communications; provide support; maintain reliability; understand and improve the service; administer plans and billing; enforce agreements; prevent misuse; and meet legal or security obligations. OpenDog does not use a shop’s customer or dog records to create unrelated testimonials, public sales claims, or advertising audiences.
Service providers and other disclosures
OpenDog may use providers for hosting and infrastructure; security, logging, analytics, and support; configured email delivery; SMS only after a delivery path is approved and enabled; Stripe payment or subscription processing only after the relevant setup; Google sign-in and map or route workflows when used; domain services; and other functions needed to provide the service. Providers receive the information needed for their task and operate under their own terms and privacy commitments. OpenDog may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, in a business transaction, or at the direction or with the consent of the relevant account holder. OpenDog does not sell personal information for money or provide shop customer records to third parties for their independent advertising.
Grooming businesses and their customers
A grooming business is responsible for having an appropriate reason to collect and enter information, giving required notices, obtaining required communication or other consent, honoring opt-outs, keeping records reasonably accurate, limiting staff access, and using information lawfully. If a grooming business entered your information, contact that business first about its dog records, appointments, messages, invoices, policies, or services. The business may have its own privacy notice and is usually best placed to verify and act on the record.
Customer portals
A public request page may collect the contact, dog, service, address, timing, consent, and note details the grooming business chose to request. A request is reviewed by that business and is not automatically a confirmed appointment. When customer-portal access is enabled, an authorized customer may view information the business chooses to share, such as dogs, appointments, invoices, balances, and visit history. Customers should protect their credentials and contact the business if shared information is inaccurate or unfamiliar.
Addresses, location context, and routes
OpenDog may process addresses, postal codes, stored coordinates, service-area rules, customer windows, stop order, and route or drive estimates to support scheduling and route review. A business chooses the addresses it enters and the route decisions it applies. Map and route providers receive the location details needed for the configured request and operate under their own terms. Route information should not be treated as a guarantee of accuracy, safety, legality, or arrival time.
Payments and card information
When payment features are configured, supported online card entry and processing use Stripe-hosted or Stripe-controlled flows. OpenDog keeps appointment, invoice, amount, payment status, and provider references needed to show the business workflow. Staff and customers should never place complete card numbers, security codes, bank credentials, or payment-account passwords in notes, email, text, support requests, or import files. Stripe controls its account onboarding, processing, payouts, disputes, and provider-specific decisions.
Cookies
OpenDog uses essential session cookies for sign-in, security, request protection, and required application behavior. Public pages may use limited acquisition or campaign attribution to connect a visit with a signup or assisted-setup request, and product or reliability tools may create technical events where configured. Browser settings can limit cookies, but blocking essential session cookies can prevent signed-in features from working. OpenDog does not claim that every browser privacy signal creates a right or technical action in every jurisdiction; requests can also be made through the contact path below.
Retention
OpenDog keeps information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, the active service, account and transaction history, security, support, dispute handling, contractual duties, and legal or recordkeeping requirements. The period varies with the data type, account status, workflow, provider, and applicable obligations. A verified deletion request may be limited by legal, security, billing, fraud-prevention, backup, or recordkeeping exceptions, and approved deletion may take time to move through backups and security logs.
Security
OpenDog uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including authenticated routes, role checks, shop-scoped access, password hashing, failed-login limits, revocable sessions, session-bound request tokens, HTTPS response protections, controlled imports, provider verification with your setup, and selected audit history. No internet service can promise absolute security. Account owners must use unique credentials, give each person only appropriate access, protect devices and account email, review unfamiliar sessions, and report suspected misuse promptly.
Choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have rights to know or access personal information, receive a copy, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, object to or restrict certain processing, opt out of a sale or qualifying sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, or receive equal service when exercising a right. OpenDog does not sell personal information for money. Use the contact page to make a request. We may need to verify your identity and authority, and exceptions may apply. For a record entered by a grooming business, contact that business first so it can identify the correct customer relationship and instruct OpenDog when appropriate.
Communication choices
A grooming business is responsible for the notices, consent, identification, timing, and opt-out handling required for its customer communications. Current OpenDog appointment confirmation and reminder email workflows depend on configured email delivery. SMS, two-way texting, automatic ETAs, and on-my-way texts remain Coming Soon until an approved delivery path is enabled. A saved communication preference does not mean a message was sent or delivered.
Children
OpenDog is a business-operations service and is not directed to children under 13. Grooming businesses should not enter a child’s personal information unless they have a lawful, necessary, and appropriate reason to do so. If you believe a child provided information directly to OpenDog inappropriately, use the contact page with enough context for review.
Changes and contact
OpenDog may update this policy as the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated effective date will be posted here, with additional notice when appropriate. Use the OpenDog contact page for a privacy question or verified request. Include whether you are a business owner, staff member, or customer of a grooming business; identify the relevant business when safe; and do not send a password, access token, complete card number, security code, bank credential, or unrelated sensitive record.
